I was inspired by my latest reblog and made sweet potato fries with guacamole and yammmm so good. Tomorrow I think I’m going to make sweet potato and portobello mushroom burgers with guacamole or avo with onions and peppers, with roasted carrots on the side. I’m curious about roasting them with coconut sugar. I used to eat sweet brown sugar carrots as a kid or something like that and I’m curious about it. I also bought some stuff for vegan bean and rice enchiladas. I bought uncooked beans and rice and I’m excited/curious/scared about it. I can finally use my rice cooker! I am also going try to make cauliflower “wings” soon.

Tomorrow I get my hair chopped to below my shoulders (it’s past my bellow button right now) and I’m excited and scared. Then Friday my boyfriend returns after being gone for a month. I can’t wait to experiment dinners with him. Kinda. Our schedules are terrible but we can try.

Anonymous: So I have a problem. I'm trying to eat healthier but I notice I tend to go more for carbs (and red meats). What are some ways to incorporate healthier foods into my life? Also, i smoke weed for my anxiety but the munchies make me eat sooo much sometimes. like i'll eat healthy all day and then eat a huge dinner w/ snacks after i smoke :/

I’m terrrribleee at answering messages so I have no idea when this was sent but now that I’ve got more free time, I’m gonna be more active with this!

By carbs I assume you mean processed carbs such as breads? I try to avoid bread and pastas because of digestive issues but when I do have them, I have whole grain and Dave’s Killer Bread makes a thin sliced bread that I like because I can still enjoy the bread but less of it at once. There is also a thing as thin buns too! As far as incorporating more healthy foods, I like to add spinach, tomato, onions, and avocado to a lot of carb-y related foods. When I make pasta, I throw in some kale and spinach. I think if you put more effort into choosing chicken over red meat, at some point you’ll enjoy it more. But I really couldn’t say as I don’t eat meats.

As far as the munchies… Oh man I’ve never eaten super healthy foods for that. But maybe like…. Veggie chips or Pop Chips instead of regular, air popped popcorn with nutritional yeast or light salt, carrots and hummus. Light salt tortilla chips with home made guacamole. I cannot get enough of guac and it’s actually the bessst food while you’re stoned. Maybe make some nana ice cream too if you have a sweet tooth and add some dark chocolate in.

Anonymous: Does it ever just makes you so sad and kind of frustrated how fucked up most people's views about food are? Like I literally heard a woman tell her friend that you shouldn't eat bananas because they make you fat but if you MUST eat them you should have green ones because they contain less sugar and I'm just sitting behind them in public transport like NO NO noooooo.

Goodness I get so frustrated hearing the stuff people say about food. It’s almost always completely wrong, they have all these ideas of all these foods being unhealthy rather than realising balance is key. Plus bananas are amazing!

This frustrates me to no end with someone from my work who is trying to lose weight. This man won’t drink an organic vegan amazing juice that we sell because it “has too much sugar,” yet for breakfast he had a burger with cheese slices and blue cheese dressing.

With someone else I knew. I made cute little shakes for a few of us with my rice drinks that contain rice and a few other ingredients and I blended it with nuts. After putting a ton of whip cream, she tossed it out (after one sip) because it was “too much sugar” when 99% of the sugar was from the whip. Then after explaining, she said “oh I can’t have rice on the paleo diet.” Yet she will consume other things against paleo. Not to mention the drink cost me $5 for like 12oz.

People and their lack of balance and knowledge of proper health. Sigh.
